Battle of the Blogs

 TMZ...

It is one of the most current media outlets covering so many different topics. TMZ is not everyone's first choice but a lot of people access the site by clicking on the link after seeing a headline on social media.

If you do decide to type TMZ onto your computer, you immediately see everything. It is a very busy site and since they cover everything it cannot be completely organized in categories. The only categories they have are News, Sports, Hip Hop, and a media gallery.

It is hard to organize politics and a A-list celebrities birthday party in the same section. It just does not flow well. When you scroll down you immediately begin to read articles about who is dating who and then you keep scrolling and you read about a crisis on Wallstreet and then you scroll again and you read about a singer's favorite restaurants. It is very overwhelming to read through.

TMZ serves it's purpose of providing pop culture entertainment in an informative manner. Although it is a site that could work on it's organization, it does cover everything current and hopefully leads to more people reading up on more important matters while they are on the site.

Cupcakes & Cashmere...

It is one of the best blogs I have looked at. It is so well organized and everything is specifically categorized into a specific category and then is further organized into a even more specific category.

It is very beginner friendly and if you have not viewed the site, it is organized to lead you to a post that you would be more interested in. All posts are categorized with similar posts, since it is a personal/casual blog. You can read the previous year's entry if it is an annual letter without having to look for it.

The photographs are very visually appealing and do a great job at enhancing the text by giving a visual. The photos are well organized on the home page, but my only complaint is that as you keep scrolling towards the bottom of the page there is a lot of white space that could be prevented if it was organized into columns.

Other than that, Cupcakes & Cashmere a really great site to visit and has at least one interesting thing for everyone even if you are not the target audience. It provides great lifestyle tips on fashion, food, and decor.

  1. Good start on this entry. Don't forget that before you jump into analyzing and considering the blogs themselves, you first need to set up the post, establish the context, and invite the reader into the conversation. Also, you need a "sign off" that gives the post a sense of closure and completion.

Your practice entry has a nice layout and organization. Don't forget to include citation/image source information for any images.
